Yuletide Deliverance

By Nullus

My Reading:

Crimson ribbons all tied up in bows,
Gilded apples and walnuts below,
Knitted socks complete the assembly,
Of the sacred fire’s Christmas medley.

The flames reflecting an ancient dance,
In a softly crackling rhythmic trance,
A child’s breath of anticipation,
Covers windows of celebration,

As Advent ends, Polaris rising,
The love of God is galvanizing,
A child is born with eyes that are bright,
Spiritual hymns adorn the night.

Their hands reach out across the trenches,
Message of peace and olive branches,
We must rely on one another,
It’s my honor to call you brother,

The tree of life stands in the corner,
As the scent of pine restores order,
Traditions guarded with reverence,
In sacred Yuletide deliverance.

Here

By Nullus

My Reading:

I’m just a guy on the periphery,
But I know my history,
I’m here,
On this sphere,
And yes, I will stay,
Something you can’t take away.

Our day will come,
When we are one.
And you will run!
And you will run!

This is something you’ll never understand,
Here is where we make our stand,
Our fight,
You aren’t right,
We know who you are,
We can see you from afar.

Our day will come,
When we are one.
And you will run!
And you will run!

Unconditional Union

By Nullus

(Dedicated to my mother and the family I never had)

My Reading:

Drifting in adoration, I curl up in her womb,
Floating in the calm of this liquid balloon,
Covered with devotion, longing for perpetuity,
The warmth of this unconditional unity.

Torn away from her heart, light becomes cold,
My eyes burn; inside I shiver a thousand fold,
Forever broken from the comfort of mummification,
The warmth of this unconditional unification.

Thrust into competition, fighting alone,
Merciless is the dilemma of the unknown,
Strength, resilience and power govern this dominion,
Over and done is the warmth of this union.

Matters of character bear upon the mind,
Casual conquests have long been left behind,
In her eyes hoping to see that familiar perfection,
The fine art of this relentless confusion.

Rekindling a memory comes with time,
My unconditional love for her is sublime,
One thousand triumphs can’t compare to the joy of giving life.
My son cries, feeling this familiar strife.

An old man is often considered a sage,
Realizing too late that his life was but a cage,
A life well lived, or fits of insanity,
I could not understand its perplexity.

I slowly drift away into the abyss,
My heart soars back to find the tomb I miss,
Before I go, this the holiest communion,
The warmth of this unconditional union.

Zero

By Nullus

My Reading:

Twisting in elegant pirouettes,
Desperate streams of water gushing,
Red flames dancing on dark silhouettes,
And you just sit there doing nothing.

Sing out loud as streets incinerate,
Play your little fiddle, play your flute,
The obligation you abrogate,
Is the destiny that you transmute.

Countless excuses in which to hide,
Material goods to acquire,
You’re posturing! Worthless selfish pride,
As your feet rest close to the fire.

Denial remains your immortal sin,
You’ll never become a true hero,
In this epic story you can’t win,
In sum, you’re just another zero.

It’s Time

By Nullus

My reading:

Time to put away the books,
Time to put them on the shelves,
Time to hang them all on hooks,
Time to embrace your true selves!

Time to end all these disputes,
Time to embrace each other,
Time to put on all your boots,
Time to call on your brother!

Time to focus on the work,
Time to put away the toys,
Time to wipe away their smirk,
Time for us to make some noise!

Void

By Nullus

My Reading:

Murmurs, sounds and suggestions,
Images, colors and shapes,
Drains the determination,
The void, where nothing escapes!

Twisted pride like wildfire,
Ignite the fields of virtue,
Delusional desire,
Moloch’s vengeance impales you!

Dare not provoke this beast’s wrath!
You impudent cur! Says he,
Self destruction is your path,
Your soul will never be free!

Screeching as he pummels you!
Spreading false rumors and lies.
All those subtle shades of blue,
As all you love slowly dies.

Rex

By Nullus

My Reading:

Ancient defender,
Noble jousts, majestic walls,
Serene pedagogue,
Meditation, pious halls,
Nebulous mornings,
Air so crisp it wakes the lungs,
The freshly baked bread,
With the eyes closed, one succumbs.

A boy’s adventure,
Carrying sticks, playing war,
Climbing, exploring,
These ramparts stand evermore,
God and man embrace,
Tiny cliff and ancient bone,
A young man’s journey,
It defines this cornerstone.

Charming nostalgia,
A distant recollection,
Triumph and defeat,
Embodies this collection,
Devotion, honor,
Formative maturity,
Wisdom and patience,
Rex, the king of destiny.

Artificial

By Nullus

‘Awakening’ by Awaiting Dawn (Ft. ‘Artificial’ by Nullus)

My reading:

She had no name, no legacy,
Her memories were wiped away,
Now she’s become the peasantry
Traditions her parents betrayed.

What was once unique and special,
Reveals no meaning, no purpose,
Existence is artificial,
Her people were bred for service.

Breaking souls of the confident,
They stole everything that they could,
Destroying every monument,
Wherever Europa once stood.

In this wasteland of arrogance,
Hidden deep behind sterile doors,
A fateful sign of providence,
An incredible boy was born.

She switched him with an alternate,
For fear of what they will unearth,
She hid him from the surrogates,
He was in danger from his birth.

This woman’s first and only son,
Smuggled away through a back door,
The Hive had learned what she had done,
The boy’s brave mother was no more.

He was reared with strict discipline,
Men who had preserved the old ways,
They saw the potential within,
The boy grew stronger every day.

His childhood has long since passed,
The Hive has been hunting him down,
These weak rulers will be surpassed,
Bringing honor to every town.

Enraged by their dispossession,
These brave men threw down their collars,
Towards valor with their ascension,
Their roars raged with every holler.

His great legend will fill the void,
And does not stop until restored,
This evil Hive must be destroyed,
And it’s artificial no more.

Wake Up!

By Nullus

My Reading:

Embers glow among the ash,
Breath is too weak to even gasp,
Buildings buried, soot and trash,
Try to flee from its grinning clasp.

Souls of men in the rubble,
Hollowness beneath the dark mask,
They all saw the signs of trouble,
But no one ever dared to ask.

If you’re hiding in debris,
No corner is unaffected,
Mind your foolish fallacy,
Wake up and fight! It’s expected!

The Fool’s Errand

By Nullus

My Reading:

I’ve been a fool and conjurer of my own mediocrity.
Emotions of rage and sorrow flowing in my soul.
Cannot control.
It mystifies me how I fell into this trap.
My own arrogance, my own stupidity.

It was long ago in a time when we all wanted to believe.
Longing for the essence of an eternal spirit.
How I feared it.
Falling into debauchery with foolish pride.
It was never there.  It never existed.

It was in this moment of simple clarity.
In which I longed to have my own family.
Dreams elude me.
I can seek only redemption before I go.
The balance of my life weighing toward a close.
