Crimson ribbons all tied up in bows, Gilded apples and walnuts below, Knitted socks complete the assembly, Of the sacred fire’s Christmas medley. The flames reflecting an ancient dance, In a softly crackling rhythmic trance, A child’s breath of anticipation, Covers windows of celebration, As Advent ends, Polaris rising, The love of God is galvanizing, A child is born with eyes that are bright, Spiritual hymns adorn the night. Their hands reach out across the trenches, Message of peace and olive branches, We must rely on one another, It’s my honor to call you brother, The tree of life stands in the corner, As the scent of pine restores order, Traditions guarded with reverence, In sacred Yuletide deliverance. © Nullus 2019
