Irradiated Arkham

By Nullus

Steering through the half-light,
Where the moon and sun brawl.
She’s inebriated,
Pavement saturated,
Wastewater backwash,
Puddles and potholes,
Rats and cockroaches crawl.

Foundational bedrock,
Municipal bosom.
Forgotten miseries,
Missed opportunities,
Banishing the sacred,
Metamorphic fragments,
Foliated bedlam!

Streets reek of piss and pot,
Wasteland of rotting rust.
Plant-eating platitudes,
Licentious attitudes,
Vacuums in barren wombs,
Avenues of refuse,
Decomposed human dust.

Unappetizing meat,
Bio-banality.
Counterfeit nourishment,
Pernicious instrument,
Putrid bourgeois Bugmen,
Pill-popping nightcrawlers,
Bijou reality.

Social fabrication,
Funding deliria.
Sullied Miskatonic,
Students catatonic,
Deceitful faculty,
Squandering intellect,
Agnostophobia!

Mandarin upper class,
Street-dumping technocrats.
Commodified potions,
Dog-collared emotions,
Mock upper echelon,
Unleashed lunatics!
Aquiline autocrats.

Barbarism expands,
Anti-life treachery.
Premeditated sprees,
Unscrupulous glowies,
Ethnic liquidation,
Crime and solipsism,
Demographic cruelty!

An urban asylum.
A city of nightmares.
Sweet Lady Liberty!
Why have you betrayed me?
The city I once loved,
The city I call home,
The city of blank stares.

And the serpent hissed in Lady Liberty’s ear:
The old Gorgon defeated the new Colossus.
