Beszélgetés a széllel / Conversations With the Wind

By Gábor Cseke – Translation by Nullus

Run, don’t ask anything!
These trees and shades will straighten and comb,
Like rails that untangle,
The sun’s flowing hair.
Run, take your rags and laundry,
Take your fluttering bed sheets,
Far-far away,
No one is standing in your way.
Perhaps you can feel me whistle,
As I’m raging and screaming,
As I spruce up your face to a fresh red hue.
– Imagine my caress! –,
I implore you, don’t
Make it hurt.

Beszélgetés a széllel – The original Hungarian poem

Fuss, ne kérdezz semmit!
Megfésülnek a fák, az árnyak,
ahogy a fény haját
bontják a rácsok.
Fuss, vidd rongyaid, szennyes
lepedőd lobogását,
messze – messze,
nincs, aki utadba álljon.
így tán megérzel – sípolok,
tombolok, kiabálok,
s ha arcod kicsípem frissre-pirosra
– hisz simogatlak! –,
nagyon kérlek, ne
fájjon.
